The Adults Are Back

I belong to no political party, but I generally find more affinity for the Republican Party than the Democrat Party. Last night, I watched portions of the Republican National Convention from Madison Square Garden, and I was almost overwhelmed.

Out in the streets People-Opposed-to-Everything “demonstrated,” exercising the right the group inside wants to preserve. The obverse seems not to apply.

What struck me most was not just this outside-inside contrast, but the gestalt. I was reminded of the early days of the G. W. Bush presidency. So many people expressed a strong sentiment to the effect, "Thank God, the adults are back in charge." Comparing the two conventions, the two parties, and even the “demonstrators,” I found the same feeling resonating last night.

Right after the horrors of 11 September 2001, a similar sentiment found wide expression: "Thank God, George Bush is president." No one will ever know what, if anything, that looney-toon, Al Gore, would have done in response to 9-11, particularly given how he has deteriorated since the election.

The speeches by Senator John McCain and former NYC Mayor Rudi Giuliani were strikingly different, as they should have been, but both were speeches by adults, and both were excellent. I particularly liked how John McCain, who spoke first, set the “big picture,” reminding us of our national context and purposes. Rudi, without vitriol and spittle flying, brought the discussion back to 11 September 2001 and to the record and behavior of John Kerry. He gave respect to Kerry’s Vietnam service and left it promptly in order to get into the proper context of this election. Kerry should have done the same—a long, long, long time ago.

John McCain’s reference to film-maker Moore and the ensuing reaction reminded everyone of the profound differences between the adults and the Democrats. The film-maker, a “journalist” for the rag USA Today, showed up during the audience reaction to McCain’s reference, and he was perfect for the contrast. In the audience were clean and positive delegates, seeming to come from every ethnicity and background; Moore, who has perfected physical repulsiveness as his “shtick,” projected dereliction, as a need for a shave and a bath, as well as needing clothes from a better source than the Salvation Army. "Anti-ness" radiated from him.

The gestalt from last night had an emotional tone that I liked. It was focused and positive. Any anti-Kerry and anti-Democrat references came out appropriately. Most attendees clearly love America and have a commitment to our way of life and its fundamental institutions.

By contrast, the Democrats, through their convention, through their daily speech and behavior, and through the rabble “demonstrating” in the streets of New York City, express chronic, unfocused rage. They do not like their perfumed princes, sissy socialists, and girlie men that are Kerry and Edwards. They hate Bush, as so many have pointed out, and this hatred is unfocused. The explanations they give for their emotions belie their lack of knowledge, universal lack of reading, and lack of concept-level thinking. They regurgitate“talking points” and frank propaganda publicized by sundry Democrat intellectual sewage generators. They come across as narcissists having chronic temper tantrums, and their poster child is Michael Moore.

In fact, Democrats remind me of Arab-Islamists. They are always angry and behaviorally unmodulated. Their mentation is puerile, and they seek revenge as their raison d’etre. Even those Democrats capable of using higher language and cognition sound like Palestinians, Syrians, Iranians, Al-Sadr, the Fahd brood, Pakistan, Egypt, Chechen rebels, and Islamists -- all caught up in a state of chronic pique. It is noteworthy that Democrats do not embarrass themselves, and that is an ominous sign of psychological personality immaturity.

While I disagree with President Bush greatly and while I disagree with the Republican Party greatly, I will gladly cast my vote for President Bush this year. I suppose that I am a single issue voter. My issue is the preservation and protection of the United States of America. Bush, as Larry the Cable Guy might say, will “git ‘er done.” All other issues are secondary, tertiary, or lower to our national defense. Nothing the Republicans or Democrats concern themselves with, other than national defense, are big enough issues for this election.

In the Eye

For the moment, we are between disasters and crises, in the eye, so to speak. How long it will last, whether minutes, hours, or even the whole day, no one knows. But, here is my opportunity to crow about a blessed event taking place throughout America.

FOOTBALL SEASON IS BACK!

With the last wiffle of NFL Europe and the Arena Football League championships disappearing into history came the awful drought. Basketbore was mercifully over as were the ice hostilities. The only thing left was basebore, which Bruce Williams so aptly named "a non-event." We still have basebore, and we have to endure the Who Cares League versus the So What League into October.

August is like the arrival of the first few drops of cooling, quenching rain coming after a long, hot, dry spell. Indeed, it is not the best football. It is the pre-season NFL. But at last, the world finally has a sport worth watching.

When I say football, I do not refer to that sissy non-American sport called soccer. Soccer has been renamed best by James Tarranto at the Wall Street Journal as "metric football." The fact that Europeans and Central and South American folk get off on metric football tells me they have a long leap yet to make.

Football means helmets, pads, smash-mouth, pointed ball WAR ON THE FIELD among 22 players hungry for victory and not long-haired dandies who look like they always need a bath. You bet, real football players need a bath after a game. They've gotten filthy, sweaty, bloody, drooled on, and some really bad stuff the former players confess in the broadcast booths.

As August winds down, so does the NFL pre-season, BUT the college football season kicks off. Then in September, the NFL teams play for real along with the college teams. After the NFL and college seasons, we have arena football, which I have come to enjoy throughly. Then we have, in late winter and early spring, the NFL Europe league providing opportunities for young players trying to beef up their skills and their employment in the NFL.

Where I live, it is probably good that football goes away during June, July, and most of August. So much needs doing around the house and outside where dryness is an asset.

Now it is back, and I think my team has a real shot at the playoffs this year. The one thing I cannot do is assuage my wife. She likes our college team and some of our local NFL team. Otherwise, it is overdose for her, and she feels like a football widow. I hope it's not a hard season on her this year.

Islamic "Humor": Allah sent giant spiders to combat U.S.

WorldNetDaily: Sheik: Allah sent giant spiders to combat U.S.: Friday, August 27, 2004

No one in Islamia intends humor.

Ayatollah Khomeini himself spoke for Islam when he was trying to combat the presence of music in Iran: "The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious." (Amir Taheri, Spirit of Allah, 1985, page 259). And, of course, no one knew humor better than Khomeini who was once considered as Leno's replacement right up until he died.

Well, Islamists are funniest whenever they try not to be funny. This article from World Net Daily is just too good to pass up. WE, in America, need a good laugh at these fools to help us keep our perspective. Sheikh Al-Sumide'i provides it. Here are some snippets.

Sheik Mahdi Saleh Al-Sumide'i spoke to Syrian TV on Monday, claiming several Arab television stations videotaped the helpful arachnids. Allah sent giant spiders to the town of Fallujah to help its residents fend off attacks by U.S. military forces.

Continued Al-Sumide'i: "The first miracle that occurred in Fallujah took the form of spiders that appeared in the city – each spider larger than this chair, or about the size of this chair. The American soldiers left, holding the legs of this spider, and I too, in one of the Friday sermons, held up a spider, with all its magnitude, in front of the satellite channels and in front of the world. This spider also had thin black hair. If this hair touches the human body, within a short period of time the body becomes black or blue, and then there is an explosion in the blood cells in the human body - and the person dies."

The sheik's interviewer then asked about the alleged TV coverage: "The people saw it, but the TV stations did not air it?"

Responded Al-Sumide'i: "The people saw it and the TV stations indeed aired it. I held the spider, and there were between 13 to 15 TV stations, including Al-Arabiya, Al-Jazeera, Al-Majd, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi and other stations, and they saw it with their own eyes."

Some Arab Internet sites have repeated claims of Iraqis about the spiders, and there also are stories circulating of phantom white-robed knights on white horses sent by Allah that killed U.S. Marines in battle.

Well, there you have it. Keep in mind that this sheikh is believed by large numbers of the ballast population. This is the mentality of our enemies: They offers us death, destruction, enslavement, and so on, as well as jinni, giant spiders, white knights, angels, and Allah. Were it not for the state support of jihadists, these folks would barely be able to dig holes in sand.

I Am a Lucky Arab

I Am a Lucky Arab, by Anonymous, FrontPageMagazine.com, August 27, 2004

[This article appeared this morning in Front Page Magazine. The author states that he is an Israeli citizen. He is Arabic in ethnicity and Islamic in religion. He is educated, prosperous, and rational enough to see and identify the good which came to his family and could come to others whose minds are trapped in militant Islam in Palestine.

I am sure that cynics have or will label this as Israeli Jewish propaganda, whether from mentalities which infect journalism, such as the New York Times, or most Democrat politicians. Cynicism is cheap and requires only acting on a feeling. Thought costs time and energy, which is why cynics seldom use it. I do not know who Anonymous is or whether this piece originated in some Israeli Jewish editorial office.

It really does not matter. This piece is almost as effective as a piece of fiction in capturing what is possible ever so briefly. The life described in this piece is available to the rabid Palestinians as well, at least in principle for those willing to pursue peace and hard work.

The piece is the absolute antithesis of Palestine and Islam as it usually is. The latter makes the former be the cloaca of the universe.]

I am a lucky Arab. My grandfather, Mohammed, travelled on foot from his home in Iraq in the early part of the last century looking for work.

Jews had come to British-controlled Palestine in the thousands, joining the Jews that had always been here, buying up land from absentee Turkish Muslim owners, and they needed many workers to help them build the land. He married, raised a large family, worked hard, and lived quietly.

I live in Haifa in Israel. In 1948 when Israel declared its independence, Arab armies from surrounding Arab states attacked with the intention of destroying the new state. I was about 15 years old and remember well the radio broadcasts from Arab states telling us to leave our homes and move eastward 'temporarily' while the advancing Arab armies wiped out the

Jews.

They told us we would then return in triumph to our homes and would have the joy of taking over all the Jewish assets-their homes, farms, shops, cars, and bank accounts.

My father, Ibrahim, was a very wise man, a learned man, and a man of peace. We had good relationships with our neighbors, Christian, Jew, and Muslim.

He gathered the entire family and explained why he did not believe it

Wise to flee, that he did not believe the Jews would mistreat us. We stayed put.

We are still here.

Today I still live in my father's old stone house with my wife and the youngest of our eight children. My older children and my many

Grandchildren all live nearby. We have never been mistreated, and we are much better off than those Arabs who fled and who ended up in miserable refugee camps being supported by the UN and charities.

I want you to know what my life is like as an Arab citizen of Israel. I was educated in Israeli schools and universities. I became a pharmacist and worked in a large pharmacy in Haifa. I was paid the same salary, and received the same benefits as Jewish colleagues. Now I'm retired. I receive two pensions; one based on the investment plan to which my company belonged and I contributed. The other comes from the Israeli government National Insurance plan.

I have eight children. Every month I received child allowance paid from the government until each became 18. I know of no other country where this happens, certainly not any Arab nation.

Our entire family is covered by the National Health Plan which provides good medical care. All my children were born in hospital, my wife received excellent ante and postnatal care. All medical and surgical is covered from the first Shekel from birth to death, and when we die even the cost of burial is covered!

My children went to school with Jewish children, they were members of

the same sports clubs and the community center, and they all received

University educations, some with state scholarships.

I pray in a Mosque, which was built on land donated by the Jewish

National Fund. I am a citizen, I have a passport, can travel anywhere, anytime. I vote in local and national elections, and we have a number of Arab members in Parliament.

I have a very good life, and so has my family. I feel for those forced to live under Arafat, for they are being used and abused badly. I long for the day that Arafat is no more, that a real peace treaty can be negotiated with Israel, so that the Palestinian Arabs can have a better life also.

I long for the day I can travel to visit cousins in Ramallah without being called a collaborator and executed. I thank Allah my grandfather came here.

I thank Allah my father didn't leave in 1948. I thank Allah my children were raised here, in the only free country in the Middle East.

We are very lucky Arabs.

FIFTH COLUMN ALERT: State Department, Again!

State Plays Orwellian with Columbus, by Robert Spencer, FrontPageMagazine.com, August 26, 2004

Robert Spencer, maestro of Jihad Watch, sticks his finger right into the middle of the truth again. He points out some more activity coming from the supreme den of political iniquity, the State Department. If there ever was a more anti-America political domain, it would have to be the Communist Party or any of the Islam apologists.

Spencer states, "...In a press release issued Monday, “Islamic Influence Runs Deep in American Culture,” Phyllis McIntosh of State’s Washington File burbles that “Islamic influences may date back to the very beginning of American history. It is likely that Christopher Columbus, who discovered America in 1492, charted his way across the Atlantic Ocean with the help of an Arab navigator.”

Following thoughts laid out by Orwell, Spencer looks at the motives of these multiculturalists: Rewrite the history books, indoctrinate the children, and you can own the future.

The he asks, "So why are the State Department and the Massachusetts public schools purveying this hooey? They well understand that it is about contemporary politics." And he goes on to conclude: "But it really isn’t the history of Iraq, or of Columbus’ voyages, that State and the Massachusetts educrats are interested in. What they’re really on about is the history — and future — of the United States. Their multiculturalist fantasy history is designed, of course, to make Americans more accepting of an influential Islamic presence in the country. But unfortunately, since no one seems concerned about how to screen terrorists out of this Islamic presence, they’re likely to find that the Muslims to whom they have surrendered their history — and who they have invited into their future — are no less multicultural than their forefathers of 1492."

Multiculturalism is the product of a serious cognitive defect. In a sense, it is a learned disease.

In America, its roots come from pragmatism, that philosophy, unique to America, which infects almost all journalists and academicians, and perhaps all politicians.

Pragmatism says that reality is malleable; thus truth is malleable. Truth is that which "works." I.e., if you get the result you want, then you know -- after the fact -- that your thoughts and actions were true. In short, the purpose of thinking and acting, according to the principles of pragmatism, is to attain an emotional result: gratification. Well, why not "shave" reality here and there to help the process along? Why not tell some things that are not true and omit some things that are to get the result? Voila, the New York Times and John Kerry!

We can hardly help pointing out the contradiction in the commission and omission acts used to hurry along the result. Somehow, the pragmatist had to know, in advance, that what he or she was shaving was real and true. That never gets acknowledged.

Spencer's article points out these processes in the State Department. They want a result--an unnatural and unearned harmony with Islam and a populace dulled enough by their efforts to accept such "harmony." They engage in cognitive subversion to get it. And we pay their salaries.

I would love to clean out that stable called the State Department. I would send Powell and his strap-hangers packing and all of the others who failed the recognition-of-facts tests. I might start by asking Dick Cheney to step down and take over the State Department and give him total purgative powers. I do not mean that Cheney is not a good VP. He is. It is just that he would be too old to run in 2008, and I would like to see Guiliani running with Bush now.

I would rather see untrained patriotic Americans populating the State Department if it came to that, rather than people who are Americans only because they were born here but who act subversively against America. People who live by Aristotle's dictum, A is A, are much safer for our country.

"The blood of our husbands and the body parts of our children are our sacrificial offering."

BBC NEWS Middle East 'Jihad' magazine for women on web

'Jihad' magazine for women on web
By Sebastian Usher
BBC World Media correspondent

The issue is not the publication of the magazine or the magazine itself. The important issue is the call for sacrifice. Keep in mind that sacrifice means giving up something of greater value for something of lesser value. Far too many people in the West think this is some ethical ideal.

Well, this is what it means. "The first edition of the magazine uses fierce language similar to that found on Sawt-al-Jihad. One of its encouragements to jihad reads: "The blood of our husbands and the body parts of our children are our sacrificial offering."

Westerners have been fed the sacredness of sacrifice from Judaism and Christianity for centuries. As religion as a cultural force began fading after the Renaissance, sacrifice was renewed and updated by Immanuel Kant who enshrined duty and sacrifice as the highest moral ideal. Kant went as far as extoling the supreme value and virtue of intention as equal to if not better than the actual act of sacrifice. To Kant, if your intentions were good, these were as good as the act, as long as you could receive no benefit from either the intention or the act. Modern liberals live Kantian sacrificial ethics as their standard.

In Islam, duty and sacrifice mean just what they say. The highest ethical achievement of a Muslim is self-sacrificial service to Allah. In fact, he has no value as an individual. His value comes solely from his duty to Islam. Giving one's life in service to Allah, shahid, or martyrddom, is Islam's highest virtue. Think about it. Death is the standard. Islam reinforces this notion by its disparagement of life on earth and taking any pleasures from such living.

Islam is literal. Give your life for Allah, without hesitation or any other consideration.

If sacrifice is an ideal, then there has to be someone receiving the sacrifices. In Islam, it is the power-lusting mullahs and the dictators. For those who grow up under its influence, Islam is obedience training.

"The blood of our husbands and the body parts of our children are our sacrificial offering."

That is what sacrifice means. Bury your self so that you can accept giving the blood of your husbands and the body parts of your children. To be able to do this, you have to wipe out their value to you and wipe yourself out as worthy of having values.

Ain't Islam grand?

For a presentation of Islamic ethics, see 6th Column Against Jihad.

Going to the Source: Al-Sadr's Puppet Masters

Al-Sadr's Puppet Masters Al-Sadr's Puppet Masters, By Claude Salhani,The Washington Times, August 24, 2004

I do not know what the Arabic word for appeasement is, so forgive my license when I refer to us as Dar-al-Appeasement, or Look Where the Chickens Have Come Home to Roost.

Looking back on the history of all of this roiling Islamism, we see an ebb and flow from Islam's beginning. Call the ebb and flow a pendular swing between orthodoxy and heterodoxy. Now the stakes are higher because the weapons are more severe, but the problem is still the same.

The swing to orthodoxy got underway big time in 1928 in Egypt with the formation of the Muslim Brotherhood. It grew and spawned other groups under the fueling by Saudi Wahhabism and oil money. At the same time, an evil human named Ruhollah Khomeini dreamed, Hitler-style, of total Islamism in Iran and all lands beyond.

The West not only blinked and caved in over the Suez Canal, but also over the locals' demands to seize the oil fields which had been discovered and developed by several Western interests. You never blink or give in to an Islamist: but the West did not learn; thus, they emboldened the fanatics. It works every time it is tried. And, by the way, they still have not learned this.

Enter Jimmy Carter whose contemptable mind got the Shah of Iran overthrown and Khomeini established as totalitarian ruler of Iran. Jimmy Carter was fool enough to think that his dime store Christianity would impress Khomeini. Well, it did. Khomeini saw Carter for the fool he was and saw that the way was clear to launch radical Islam onto the world from Iran, using petrodollars to fund. Khomeini established all sorts of terror training institutes and allied himself with all of the other Islamists who regarded Israel as the worst thing since sliced bread.

Reagan blinked and caved over Lebanon and the barracks at Beirut, and later, astonishingly, by arms dealing with Iran. Khomeini turned up the heat as did the Saudis who could read the same information and get the same conclusions: The West, and particularly the USA = WEAK. Petrodollars funded the spread of Wahhabism, and they funded Hezbollah and Khomeini's global ambitions.

Bush 41 blinked and caved. The Gulf War was a travesty. We spent blood and treasure only to get a bad result and a huge worsening of our reputation among the Islamists. Remember, the Islamists respect only ruthless power and total victory. Anything short of this spells victory for them to them. We could have and should have come out of that war with that part of the world existentially fearing our displeasure.

Early in Bush 41's presidency, Khomeini died. Khomeinism did not die, nor did Hezbollah and running the biggest terrorist operations in history. It is still going strong, if not stronger; now we are letting them go nuclear.

Clinton practically gave the bad guys a red carpet, round trip tickets, and all expenses paid permanent vacations, as well as bonuses and a no-hour work-week bonanza. Islamists now concluded that the rich mansion stood unlocked, unguarded, and ripe for the plundering, while some silly would-be playboy played cigar games in the Oval Office.

Bush 43, for the good he has done regarded responding to terrorism, has failed mightily. (If Kerry succeeds Bush, expect full, active assaults on the USA; Bush is by far better than those sissy socialists and perfumed princes on the Democrat ticket.) GWB is soft on religion per se and cannot bring himself to identify the enemy in terms of the unvarnished truth. The Islamists see that. They know he attacked Iraq when he should have taken out Iran, then Saudi Arabia and Syria. They know Iran pulls the strings on world-wide Islamic terror, and they see the leaders of the USA unwilling call a spade a spade and do what is needed.

Enter Al-Sadr. Were it not for Iran, Al-Sadr would be the insignificant troll he is with his two followers. What is the meaning of Al-Sadr, and of what importance is he -- other than as a representative of poor State Department policy?

The author of this article we are citing says: "The reason is the Iran's ayatollahs are sending Washington a message. The message is "make sure that you, Washington, will convince Israel to stay away from our nuclear sites and desires." Otherwise, the fighting currently under way in Najaf can easily expand to other localities and grow in intensity. Lives are, unfortunately, expendable in this part of the world."

Why would some sub-standard wreck of a country like Iran act this way? We taught them that they could do this to us.

We restrain our sole ally, Israel, out of stupid altruistic, self-defeating motives. We join the scum who are anti-Israel by not telling them to take a hike and backing Israel morally, militarily, and with materiel. The Iranians are afraid of Israel because Israelis act like humans of self-esteem who value their survival. Our politicians and appointees do not.

The answer to terror is to take out the terror states who are solely behind the world's troubles today. It means starting with IRAN and making it a total example. It also means unleashing Israel and backing them 1000%.

To paraphrase former President Reagan, the bombing should begin in five minutes.

THE TERROR MASTERS REVISITED Michael A. Ledeen - Benador Associates

THE TERROR MASTERS REVISITED - Michael A. Ledeen - Benador Associates

{We are experiencing some flaws in this blogging system this morning. If the links act up, and you want to read Michael Ledeen's article, note that it was first published in National Review Online, 16 August 2004.}

My sole contact with Michael Ledeen has been through reading his articles and seeing his occasional appearances on television interviews. In every case, I have been impressed that this is one guy who knows what he is talking about, and I have found that his articles are always worth reading. This one is no exception.

Here is some red meat from Ledeen's article.

"...It has been quite clear for some time now that al Qaeda and the other major terrorist groups — Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Jamaa, etc. — are all working together, and have been ever since we went into Afghanistan. The cooperation increased in the run-up to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was only possible because the regimes who gave the bulk of the operational support to the terrorists — Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia — worked closely to coordinate the anti-American jihad. That coordination has, for the most part, continued (note the visit of Bashar Assad to Tehran at the time of the turnover of "sovereignty" in Iraq. At those meetings, Syria and Iran agreed on a five-point plan to attack us in Iraq, Europe, and at home, and to do everything possible — including massive efforts to get the price of oil as high as they can — to defeat President Bush in November's elections). This helps understand the coordination between, say, attacks by the forces of Moqtada al Sadr and Baathist "loyalists." The infrastructure was created before we ever arrived in Iraq. In order to conceal their activities from us, the Iranians have deployed several deceptive myths. The two most effective are "al Qaeda" and "Zarqawi."

"The organizing center is ... a "directorate" located in Iran, that works closely with Iranian intelligence organizations, including the Revolutionary Guards. Those organizations, in turn, work with their counterparts in other friendly countries. "

In short, the terrorism plaguing us is STATE SPONSORED. This fact is hardly new, but it seldom gets stressed. The center of the problem is IRAN. The satellite centers are SAUDI ARABIA and SYRIA. Neutralizing these centers pretty much ends the terrorism sponsoring problem. Such neutralizing means completely flattening structures and facilities and depopulating vast areas where the leaders hang out, not "surgical strikes." We must push them back to the 7th century A.D., which they so pine for anyway. It would mean taking IRANIAN and SAUDI ARABIAN oil as hostage. Petrodollars are the major source of funding. We can do this from the sea and from Iraq, and it means endless devastation until we have unconditional surrender.

It should also mean taking out QOM, MECCA, and MEDINA, and any other "holy" Islamic sites. All we need to do is to destroy the shrines, as opposed to taking out the populace. As Victor Mordecai pointed out, broadcasts within the Middle East constantly refer to relative power. Their "Allahu Akbar," means "Allah is greater," not Allah is great. The question becomes, greater than what? They mean quite specifically that their Allah is greater than the Christian and Jewish God. Many of them on air indicate that nuclear destruction of Jerusalem means "Allahu Akbar." They also say that devastating Medina and Mecca would mean that the Christian and Jewish God is greater, and they would then give up Islam and convert. Note that Mordecai is reporting, not opining.

Part of taking out Syria would involve leveling the Bekaa Valley, the breeding ground of so much terrorist training and supplies.

Think about it.

From Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism

Earlier this month, we brought the group, Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism, to readers' attention and pointed them to their website for their own evaluation of the group. We have been cautious because of notorious Muslim dissimulation. This morning I received this mailing, and I want to pass it on. It is the right message.

It is my ardent hope that Free Muslim Coaltion Against Terrorism is a Sixth Column organization, supporting the correct and good principles of life and America as opposed to the sordidness of almost all of the other Muslim groups, such as CAIR.

I wish I could take Free Muslim Coaliton Against Terrorism at face value because all of us need good Muslim, Arab, etc., principled, proud support of life values. If they keep this up long enough, I will be proud to endorse them. Until then, we can appreciate any and all good emanating from them--and spread it around.

Here Is the Message:

From : Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism
Reply-To : info@freemuslims.org
Sent : Thursday, August 19, 2004 8:10 PM

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism urges Arab and Muslim leaders to provide moral support to the new Iraqi government in its bid to defeat Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army.

It has been more than a year since the invasion of Iraq. Some were for the war and some were against the war. However, continuing to argue about whether the war was justified is now moot and not constructive. No matter what is one’s view about the invasion of Iraq, the Arab and Muslim world must now agree that a stable, prosperous Iraq is in everyone’s best interest.

The journey to stabilizing Iraq has been a difficult one and it is being made more difficult by terrorist infiltrations, Iranian sabatoge and ruthless private militias who have no purpose other than to destabilize Iraq.

The battle with Muqtada al-Sadr has continued for too long. There must come a time when negations must stop and decisive action taken. Al-Sadr has been given numerous opportunities to lay down his arms and join the government if he wants to influence government policy. In response, he has continued to play cat and mouse and continues to divide Iraq.

Some fear that waging a full assault against al-Sadr and his forces may enrage the Shia population. The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism believes this is flawed reasoning. Those who support al-Sadr will be just as enraged with the Iraqi government and the Coalition forces if they continue to wage a low intensity battle that accomplishes no more than increase al-Sadr’s popularity and recruits.

The Iraqi government and the Coalition forces must eliminate al-Sadr in a quick, decisive and overwhelming battle. The United States must also reaffirm to the Iraqi people that it has no intention of continuing to occupy Iraq. The United States must make it clear to the people of Iraq that it will leave Iraq one day after Iraq becomes stable. This approach will provide the Iraqi government with a credible argument against the militants who claim that they are fighting for the liberation of Iraq. With this approach, the Iraqi government may win the hearts and mind of the Iraqi people by arguing that if the militants want the U.S. to leave Iraq then the militants must put down their arms and contribute to the building of a prosperous and stable nation.

Having said this, no one should be naïve into believing that al-Sadr is fighting to end the occupation of Iraq. The battle with al-Sadr is about the future of Iraq. Iraq is now divided between those who want to build a democratic, secular nation and those, like al-Sadr, who want to build an Iran type theocracy. We must never allow Iraq to become another Iran.

SIXTH COLUMN ALERT: Good News from Iraq

OpinionJournal - Extra AFTER THE WAR

Taking the Field
A roundup of the past two weeks' good news from Iraq.

BY ARTHUR CHRENKOFF
Monday, August 16, 2004 12:01 a.m. EDT

Before national and international events crowd this article out of sight, I want to bring it to the attention of readers who want some authentic balance to the dour tripe from the journalistic media and academia. Why "sixth column alert?" The term underscores our commitment at Sixth Column and 6th Column Against Jihad to the success in life on all fronts, in contrast to all of the fifth columnists despoiling America.

The only way to protect Americans--and, coincidentally, good Iraqis--is to bomb the Najaf mosque into a parking lot, and to announce that any building

House of God, House of War by John Lewis, Ph.D. (CAPITALISM MAGAZINE, August 17, 2004) Article website address: http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=3860

Someone else has the balls to say it. It is well worth reading.

People continue to fall upon their swords because they have qualms about attacking Islam as a religion and have this crazy idea that mosques are "holy sites." If anyone wants to understand these Muslims and their Islam, substitute in order "Nazi" for "Muslim" and "Nazism" for "Islam." This substitution is historical reality anyway and it is extremely close to the truth of the current conflict with these religious zealots. We must put Islam out of our misery. To do it, we must be righteously selfish. By that I mean put our national self-interest first. Doing so will save American lives, materiel, and our future. [We are being destroyed potentially by our Religion Barrier. See article by that name in 6th Column Against Jihad.]

This article says it. Here are two paragraphs:

It is long past the time for Americans to admit the truth. The totalitarian radicals have support from mainstream Muslims. Many condemn the investigations into America's enemies rather than assist the investigations. Many think that supporting Islamic fighters financially is not really that bad. Many clerics and thousands of their followers do not oppose the use of mosques as military bases. Many see their religion as compatible with aggressive warfare, even if they do not actually take up arms.

The only way to protect Americans--and, coincidentally, good Iraqis--is to bomb the Najaf mosque into a parking lot, and to announce that any building used for such purposes gets the same treatment. They chose to use their House of God as a House of War. The marching crowds agree. Admit the facts, and act accordingly. Continue aggressive investigations into mosques in America. And let those who will condemn the Americans choose their side openly.

Summary: The only way to protect Americans--and, coincidentally, good Iraqis--is to bomb the Najaf mosque into a parking lot, and to announce that any building used for such purposes gets the same treatment.

A Diagnostic from the Islamic Enemy

MEMRI: August 17, 2004 No.763 Egyptian Government Weekly Magazine on 'The Jews Slaughtering Non-Jews, Draining their Blood, and Using it for Talmudic Religious Rituals'

Many years ago, I developed an obsession to find out what made Nazis "tick," i.e., discovering their intellectual credentials. What I discovered was that Nazis were among the most banal intellkects on earth. I had to go to philosophy to find out what caused and sustained Nazism because Nazis, communists, fascists, Islamists, and all other totalitarians pack so few intellectual credentials. Hitler, for example, appealed to the Will, sort of "the blood" of Aryan Germans. Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer, etc., had created Hitler, but Hitler understood only emotionalism, the effect of these philosophers.

What a disappointment it was to learn that monsters so horribly evil could be such intellectual light-weights. I later learned that this is always the case. This is no less true with Islamists.

The article from MEMRI, which I would classify as a MUST-READ, if for no other reason, for a good chuckle, demonstrates just what poor intellectual powers we face.

The article lays out material which would be embarrassing to publish in America, unless one were a liberal. Why the Israel hate? Muhammad turned on the anti-Semitism, and the Islamic light-weights have used it just as Hitler did. Absurdity reigns among the bats in their belfries.

Here is one hilarious sample of Islamicist "thinking," taken from the MEMRI article:

The Rabbis use this blood [non-Jews] in various religious rituals, among them weddings when an egg is smeared with blood and the married couple eats it the night of the wedding, which gives them the power to deceive and trick anyone who is not Jewish. Also, the Rabbis use the blood of the non-Jewish victim to treat some illnesses that afflict the Rabbis. They mix some of the blood with the blood of a circumcised baby, then brush it on his throat in order to purify him, and also anoint their temples with it to commemorate the destruction of the Temple every year; [it is also used to] anoint the chests of their dead so that God will forgive them their sins; it is also mixed in the holiday bread and in many other Talmudic rituals.

While we are engaged in a war of ideas with these Islamic numb-skulls, our ideas are superior in every way. We just must make our actions be totally consistent with our ideas, and push these Islamic Nazis back to the 7th century A.D.

Hurricane Charley: Report #2 from Florida

{Our contributor, Portia, is living through the aftermath of Hurricane Charley which veered enough north to hit the Orlando area instead of where she lives on the east coast of Florida. We feel privileged to post her thoughts.}

Human beings in Florida have become very complacent over the past decades. Heck, humans in general have the audacious and erroneous belief that they can tame nature and that the force of the human mind can turn back a volcano, a tidal wave, or even outwit a hurricane. Time and time again we have been guilty of wrong thinking. We live in dread of these forces, and those of us that were not touched often believe that we are beyond their touch. I have seen that look in the faces of some in this area.

An example is that some are complaining to store owners that they are faced with the inconvenience of not having ice for their trips to the beach as ice is now being shifted to the victims. Tempers are frayed among those that merely lost electricity and have to hunt for service stations that have power to pump gas or that can be open for business. On the other hand, we find individuals of great compassion and generosity such as restaurant owners that are preparing meals on gas grills from the foodstuffs that could no longer be kept safe because there is no electric power. Strangers are taking in the homeless and families are becoming closer. Thus, the best and worst of human nature is being brought out.

We are being taught a lesson. Too long have we allowed shoddy construction and inexpensive housing to be built in the State of Florida. The forms that work in other parts of the country are not appropriate for this environment. Even concrete block construction was reduced to rubble. Hurricane-hardened structures must become the norm. Even the infrastructure must be constructed differently to withstand the fury of storms.

The electric grid in part of the state has been completely destroyed. Complete substations disintegrated must be rebuilt from the ground up. Water towers toppled, and treatment plants were severely damaged. Public service, such as fire and rescue, law enforcement have been compromised and public records destroyed. The infrastructure of civilized society was vaporized in the matter of a few hours, not at the hands of manas we imagined it might be, but through the force of nature that we know must not be tampered with as doing so would upset a balance that has existed for millions of years.

Many powerful storms have hit and will continue to do so. Humans must adapt to their environment as they always have. We will find a wiser way to live here.

You may not hear from some of your friends in the Orlando area as two million Floridians are still without power. Several hundred thousand of those are in Orange and Seminole counties. Although most of them are in sound structures, they are suffering the loss of the conveniences of everyday life.In Orange, Seminole, Volusia, and Northern Brevard counties, many homes and buildings are damaged, trapped by downed trees and power lines. At this point there are probably few people that can't get out of their houses, but thousands now have no transportation as their private vehicles are unable to move from homes and parking lots. The Lynx bus system (mass transit) is beginning to run, and probably will have an increased ridership for the forseeable future.

Theme parks have their own power supply. The Disney machine, with its various parks and hotel complexes is up and running, with only Typhoon Lagoon unable to open. Sea World Marine Park has its own power for the goodof the marine life, but life in this huge city is now sad and inconvenient. Life here has been altered. The carefree beach lifestyle in Margaritaville will undergo some changes for the safety of us all, but remember our unofficial state motto: The Rules Are Different Here. The motto applies not only to our social code, but, we now understand how different.

Hurricane Charley: A Report from Florida

[A friend of ours who is also a contributor to this blog and our website sent this email about the aftermath in Florida from Hurricane Charley. She was spared but came very close to being hit by Charley. Her email speaks for itself, and does so eloquently. While Charley was horrible beyond bearability, it is the human scum who keep the damage going through their gougings and scams. One wants to shoot those scum on sight ... ]

There are no words to describe the devastation. This time the damage is wide-
spread, and the interior counties don't have the resources as most are
concentrated on coastal communities that expect damage.

At least one hundred calls have gone in to complain for price-gouging, and
even here [Florida east coast] scam artists were calling the elderly to get their bank and credit
card numbers.

We will need mental help professionals to help us cope. There are poor
elderly people wandering in a daze as their homes are destroyed; they have
nothing left; there are no facilities nor utilities, phone service, water,
etc.; and their families have no idea whether or nor they are alive or dead.
Heart attacks were wide spread. Thus, those that didn't die immediately are
bound to have a tough time as they can't find their medication, and they are
often trapped in their condos and under rubble. (At least that's the report
given by the rescue personnel that have been able to get to a few condos
only to pry open the doors with crow bars and so on. There are no words to
describe the full scale. I am sure that many will decline and die in the
aftermath.

At least three hospitals were severely damaged, fire and rescue stations, and
rescue equipment totaled. The police are patroling cars with blown out
windows.

People were lulled into believing that the storm would go far north as Tampa
were evacuated to Orlando in order to avoid the storm surge of 16 feet, that
didn't happen, because the cold front steered the storm to north of Ft.
Myers.

Sanibel and Captiva suffered massive building loss, and no one is allowed to
return across those low causeways. It was a beautiful gem. We used to
vacation there.

It gives one pause...

Would Someone Please Recall General Patton?

The New York Times > International > Middle East > Combat: Najaf Fighting Pauses to Allow Talks on Truce

The Najaf and Al-Sadr situation seems like another "triumph" of the so-called State Department. Here comes defeat being snatched from the jaws of victory.

Per the news reports, super-mosque has been surrounded completely, trapping all of the nasties inside. We have earned the right and have the opportunity to finish off these ne'er-do-wells quickly.

Supposedly, they have plenty of water and food stored inside. Well, guess what? CS (tear) gas pumped into that building to reach concentrations which make their eyes fall out, their skin blister, and every breath feel like inhaling raw fire would, in liberal-speak, possibly draw them to the table. In fact, you couldn't shoot 'em fast enough unless you used the finest and fastest machine fired weapons we have, used in large numbers.

Then, Mr. Piggie, Himself, could be beheaded right there on international television. All the corpses of his followers could be stacked up into a pile, Muhammad-style. The mosque could be opened to fresh air, possibly using a fan or two to move the gas out. Any survivors of the ne'er-do-wells could be outfitted with sponges, buckets, mops, brooms, etc. to wash down the walls, ceilings, floors, and furnishing. Now, that would be how to do a real 'NEGOTIATION."

"The talks in Najaf appeared to have ended, at least for now..." Ain't that a liberal shame.

"But the terms set by the two sides appeared far apart, at least publicly, and it was far from certain that a solution to nearly five months of sporadically deadly confrontation would be found." Who would have thought?

"In Washington on Friday, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell outlined tough conditions for the Najaf talks..." We can hope this pussy willow gets replaced with someone who does not have a smooth perineum in the second Bush term.

"The violence is being perpetrated by outlaws and by former regime elements and by terrorists who respect no truce, respect nothing except force," Mr. Powell said in the remarks at the State Department. "And as long as those individuals don't understand the spirit of peace and reconciliation, are not willing to work for a democratic, free Iraq, they have to be dealt with." What will they think of next?

"Command Sgt. Maj. Steve Frennier, one of the cavalry division's top noncommissioned officers, said the soldiers were disappointed that the battle had been called off with Mr. Sadr still in control of the Old City and the southern part of the cemetery, abutting the mosque. "They're frustrated," he said." This is what happens when you do not formally declare war. You allow political considerations to interfere with rationality.

"I will not leave this holy city," Mr. Sadr was reported to have said as supporters chanted, "No, no to America!" He added, "We will remain here defending the holy shrines until victory or martyrdom." There you have it. This porcine anus is evil, but he is right on with the truth. We should dispatch him and throw a big party.

This type of "thinking" and behavior out of our leaders and the hamstringing of our military retards speedy resolution and complete resolution. They have not and do not grasp the nature of the enemy. They have never read Raphael Patai's The Arab Mind, and have no concept how these "people" think. Our leaders enshrine ignorance as their highest virtue. And, if Kerry becomes president, all of the foregoing will deteriorate to the maximum.

Terrorists 'normal'

Suicide bombers fit their culture, psychiatrist says
By CP

TORONTO -- Suicide bombers are rational, sane people whose choice to end their lives as they kill others is considered perfectly normal in societies they grow up in, the Globe and Mail reported yesterday from a southern Ontario religious conference. In a chilling analysis of what makes a terrorist, a U.S. psychiatrist who worked for the U.S.Central Intelligence Agency said most extremists who use violence are not emotionally disturbed.

In fact, they would be expelled from their organizations if they appeared to be unbalanced, the Toronto Star said from Orillia, Ont.

"Most terrorists are quite normal. It's hard to understand
but quite true," Jerrold Post said Friday.

APPEAL BROADENING

Post, who interviewed terrorists in a 21-year career with the CIA, said
the appeal of suicide bombing is broadening.

The practice was once limited to very young men, a huge percentage of them teenagers.

"Now women, mothers, have joined this pathway, and middle-aged men, a 43-year-old
father," he told the Globe and Mail.

"I see it as a trend."

He said his colleagues have given up asking people why they join their militant
organizations to become suicide bombers.

"Because we would get these weird looks: 'Why do we join? Everybody is joining. It's only the weird individuals who don't join,' " said Post, who's now at George Washington University.

Post said suicide bombers are driven by deep despair over the forces they see arrayed against them.

He said "psychological warfare," or education, is the most effective weapon against terror. Young people must learn the version of Islam in which they have been indoctrinated has nothing to do with mainstream Islam.
Over and over, we must stress, we are fighting a WAR OF IDEAS, not a lunatic asylum. Islam molds otherwise normal people into a way of thinking that inflicts on us these dangerous Jihadists. We are beginning several series of articles delineating the how and why in 6th Column Against Jihad.

There are nut cases which gravitate to every organization. These most often are people of limited abilities and self-esteem who are looking for an exoskeleton, psychologically speaking. Hitler rose to power with the help of the Storm Troopers (SA), or "Brown Shirts." The SA were a polyglot of many varieties of "ne'er-do-wells," to put it kindly. These "paths" (sociopaths, psychopaths, criminals, addicts, etc.) had too little discipline to go where Hitler wanted to go, so he purged them in 1934 and granted full authority for his evil doings to the SS.

Though it may be hard to believe, the SS had mostly normal men and women. What explains the behavior of the SS? They were EVIL. They acted on the horrible ideas which permeated the culture from Kant to Hegel to Schopenhauer to Nietzsche and assorted other philosophers who primed the German pump. Don't forget that Eichmann proudly proclaimed, before the Israelis executed him, that he was a Kantian.

The CIA psychiatrist is very right when he emphasizes the value of ideas. If we can get to Muslim kids when they are very young, we can start turning this Islamic mess into fertilizer. Islam has a very effective system for making its Muslim Killbots. Permanent changes, thus peace, requires us to stop Islam before it mutates its young. This is a very long range, and very worthwhile endeavor, and I see little evidence of it happening right now.

Right now, we have Islamic killers coming at us, and we must annihilate them and their supporters, as we have covered.

My biggest bone to pick with the psychiatrist comes when he says, "Young people must learn the version of Islam in which they have been indoctrinated has nothing to do with mainstream Islam." No, no, no!!! Mainstream Islam IS the problem. As the 1992 presidential campaign said, and I paraphrase, It is Islam, Stupid! This is one of the biggest idea hurdles we Americans must get over.

IT IS ISLAM, STUPID!

Arab-Islamic Thinking Resembles American Liberal and Conservative Thinking

MEMRI: An Arab Nationalist Attack on the Arab Progressives

I liked this article so much that I started abstracting it for this blog entry. Soon, I discovered that abstracting takes away vital flavors of thinking and expression in the article. So, here it is as it is on the MEMRI site.

As I read this article, I was reminded that there are thinking people who are not savages within Islamia. We seldom see them, but MEMRI finds them. Their concerns resemble discussions here in America between liberals and conservatives, with each side making the same egregious epistemological errors. The Islamic savages obscure the view of these intellectuals, which is a terrible thing. It is obvious, however, that some of these intellectuals are still our enemies. The great value of this article is how it exposes not on what some of the intellectuals are thinking over there, but how.

[BTW: MEMRI is a superb site. MEMRI is an acronym for Middle East Media and Research Institute. It is worth subscribing to (free) and supporting with contributions.]

The Arab progressives, whose voices have increasingly grown stronger since September 11th and who use the Internet as their main pulpit, are under constant attacks from their Islamist and Pan-Arab nationalist opponents. In his weekly program on Al-Jazeera television, the moderator Dr. Faysal Al-Qassem summarized the main criticisms against them: "I wish we had never scolded the traditional Arab liberals… At least they were nationalists, while the new Arab liberals stand to the right of Fascism and Zionism… Are they not closer to the neo-conservative Americans who are destroying the world, than to the real liberals…? Are they not part of the enmity to Islam, Arabism, nationalism, the [armed] resistance, and all the noble Arab and Islamic values? Why do they lean blindly toward anything Western? Why do they praise and extol normalization with Israel…? Why do they depict America as a benevolent angel who has come to save us from our evils…? Why do they absolve the enemies from being responsible for the backwardness of the the Arab world? Why do they despise the nations that embraced Arab and Islamic values? How is it that the neo-liberal Arabs call for tolerance while taking the lead in accusing [others] of heresy? Doesn't liberalism advocate acceptance of others and interaction with all factions? Why do they call for uprooting the Islamists and the proponents of Pan-Arabism? Aren't the neo-liberals more fundamentalist and radical than Osama bin Laden ? Why are they antagonistic to anyone who opposes them? Is this Liberalism or a repulsive Fundamentalism? Are they anything more than a fifth column…?" [1]

Throughout his TV program, Dr. Faysal Al-Qassem has supported the views against the Arab liberals, and ten days later he published his opinions in an article in the pro-Saddam London daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi. In his article he makes a distinction between "the real liberals," whom he calls "the nationalist liberals," and the "neo-liberals," whom he condemns. The progressive commentator in the program, Dr. Shaker Al-Nabulsi, also wrote an article explaining his point of view. It was published simultaneously by the liberal Internet site Elaph.com and the daily newspapers Al-Siyassa (Kuwait), Al-Mada (Iraq), and Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribiya (Morocco). The following are excerpts from Al-Qassem's and Al-Nabulsi's articles:

Dr. Faysal Al-Qassem: The Nationalist Arab Liberals – a Model for Integrating the Struggle for Democracy with the Struggle for Nationalism and the Safeguarding of Arab Interests and Values

"First, I have to admit that Arab liberals come in different types and that it is unfair to put all of them in one basket. Among them are total nationalists who are not intoxicated by Western culture and ideologies, and believe in finding internal nationalistic remedies to the political, economic, and cultural Arab maladies and problems. They raise thousands of questions about the American plans and initiatives whose alleged goal is to bring reform and democracy to the region. Furthermore, they oppose America and its goals, they reject any reforms from without, and they refuse to cooperate with anyone who claims to bring [reforms from without] to the Arab countries. They promise to spearhead the battle against any Western force that may attack an Arab country, and sometimes they accuse those who cooperate with foreign powers in the guise of implementing democracy and getting rid of despotic leaders in Arab countries of being traitors.

"This brand of Arab liberals is also characterized by its support for the struggle in all its manifestations, even when they have ideological disagreements with [those who carry out] the struggle… They welcome the acts of the struggle's movements because they are fulfilling a national duty worthy of respect and appreciation, which means that they are partaking in the battle for freedom and opposing any normalization with Israel. At the same time, this brand of liberals valiantly fights for the emancipation of the Arab countries from reviled despotism and tyranny and fights for upholding human rights, even if it results in their imprisonment.

"Those 'nationalist-liberals' are a small minority and they have a weak voice in comparison to the loud voice of the Arab liberals who imitate the Americans and dance the Debka [an Arab folkdance] in a Yankee rhythm… They fill Internet sites and some of the liberal press with a rising tide of liberal cacophony and reject anything that is Arabic, nationalistic, and Islamic. Furthermore, this brand of liberals, which imitates the Americans, does not hesitate at times to equate their fellow nationalist-liberals with Islamists and Pan-Arabists, just because they are nationalists who refuse to throw themselves into the arms of foreigners.

"I believe that we urgently need this brand of free Arabs who amalgamate the struggle for democracy with the struggle for nationalism and with safeguarding the Arab values, interests and rights."

The 'Neo-Lib Arabs' - an Amazing Resemblance to the Neo-Cons in the U.S

"In contrast to this stands the more vocal and more prominent liberal trend… It is dominant and attracts obvious interest in the electronic media, the press, journals, and Arab media, which are supported by the U.S. and claim liberalism. I underline the word 'claim' because liberalism in its true meaning is completely innocent of this type of Arab liberalism, since liberalism in its Western definition means that a person believes in progress, reform, enhancement of the individual's human rights, and the propagation of tolerance and emancipation. Such values are lacking in many of the supporters of neo-lib Arabs.

"'New' doesn't necessarily equal good. It could also be the ultimate in repulsiveness, filth, vileness, and depravity. The neo-cons in the U.S. are a clear example for that. Their name is linked to everything that is appalling in the U.S. They planned the invasion of Iraq and the exploitation of that defeated country; they ferment religious strife, attack other countries, turn America into a dictatorship, and disregard international values, laws, and customs. They are full of fanatical ideologies and scorn other nations and democracy…

"It seems that the 'neo-lib Arabs,' who often are praised by Zionist circles, found their match in the American neo-cons. There is an amazing resemblance between the two camps as far as dressing nice values such as liberalism and political conservatism in new and ugly garb… Just as the [American] neo-conservatives target Islam and hatch devilish plans to strike it at its core … [so are] the neo-lib Arabs, who in these days have no other goal but to slander Islamic culture and religion in various ways and to paint its leaders as the source of every evil, backwardness, and decay.

"It seems that no article published by the supporters of this movement is free of poisonous arrows aimed carefully at all that is Islamic, to the point that one of them described, in a loathsome manner, the veiled women in the streets of Cairo as 'moving tents.' There is a great amount of loathing to everything Islamic in what they say. Another neo-liberal Arab did not hesitate to describe the late Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the founder of Hamas, as a degenerate terrorist sheikh who dragged the whole region into an abyss that no one knows what lies at its end…

"Even the Pan-Arab ideology did not escape the neo-liberals' arrows, since they consider it a backward chauvinistic idea that should have already been buried yesterday… I am sure that the writers who belong to this trend will attack me harshly for the mere uttering of the word principles, for in their eyes this is a dirty and evil word that does not exist in Arab and Islamic culture. The most alarming and troubling issue for the neo-libs is the use of the term Arab or Islamic 'nation'. This too, in their eyes, is a hideous term that does not exist, although they know that their beloved Samuel Huntington, author of the clash of civilizations theory, is a die-hard supporter of his own Western nation to the extent that he dreads other cultures.

"I do not see a difference between their position toward Islam and Arabism and that of the arrogant Zionist writers. As a matter of fact, some of the neo-lib Arab writers may be found to the right of Sharon, Mofaz, and Netanyahu in their hatred and disdain to Islam and Arabism. They are removed from liberalism in its true meaning that does not espouse targeting other ideologies and crushing them. Certainly there is no harm in demanding improvement and oversight of an ideology, as long as it does not lead to a call to uproot it, the way the neo-liberal Arabs are doing in their writings about Islam, Arabism, and nationalist ideas."

The Neo-Liberal Opposition to the [Armed] Resistance

"The [armed] resistance is [also] a vile, despicable, and degenerate word in the lexicon of the neo-libs. Anyone who mentions it is forever accursed and loathed. I have not heard one person among the neo-liberals saying one good word about Hizbullah or the Palestinian Hamas and [Islamic] Jihad movements. And if they did – it was just as a precautionary measure [to camouflage their true opinions].

"Numerous are the curses that they hurtle at the Palestinian martyrs [i.e. suicide bombers] who have only their bodies left to defend their motherland and free it from the hands of the usurpers. They maintain that the Iraqi resistance is nothing more than acts of terror and sabotage and that the culprits should be uprooted … because they are hurting their Anglo-Saxon and Frank masters.

"In addition to their contempt of Arabism, Islam, and the national struggle we find that our neo-liberals … yearn for Tel-Aviv, even if they try to conceal it. Therefore, it is no surprise that they are among those who espouse normalization and reconciliation with the Israelis using false pretexts that are hard to digest. When they cite renowned writers they find only Hebrew and Western names such as Shlomo, Mordechi, Oz, Shahak, and Michelle, as if the Arab and Islamic culture is devoid of illustrious people in literature, politics, and culture…

"Possibly, the most distinct characteristic of their analysis of the Arab and Islamic situation is that they always put the blame for whatever happens on the Arabs and Muslims, and absolve foreign elements, such as imperialism and its prodigal daughter Israel, from the disasters that afflicted the region…"

The 'So-Called Democracy' of the Neo-Libs

"The most amusing thing in the writing of neo-liberal Arabs is their disdain of our minds, as if they are the only ones who understand democracy. They exhausted us with their calls to rely on the people in elections and critical decisions, because they are the ones who confer legitimacy on regimes and leaders, but when the people support Islamic and Pan-Arab parties, they condemn and disavow them.

"For example, the Algerians who elected the 'National Islamic Salvation Front' are [in their minds] ignorant people, [just] because they voted for the foes of neo-libs. The Egyptian people, who voted for Islamists in parliamentary elections, do not deserve respect also because they vote for what they [the neo-liberals] consider a misguided party… The people who hate America, are in their eyes, stupid and immature… What could be more hypocritical than this so-called democracy? Doesn't democracy mean the acceptance of the majority's positions, even if it is wrong? We do not hear them talk about the shortcomings of democracy and how it brought someone like Hitler to power except when the Arab peoples vote for parties or ideologies that oppose the neo-libs…

"For a long time we have been hearing our neo-liberal brethren curse Osama bin Laden and his supporters because they are engrossed in extremism… How different are they from bin Laden and his likes, the extremists and radicals? Don't they [also] classify the world into the category of those who agree with them and those that don't…? Can't that be defined as disgusting liberal fundamentalism? They refuse to entertain any idea suggested by their fundamentalist and Pan-Arab enemies, based on the adage 'no freedom for the enemies of freedom'…

"Doesn't liberalism, in its linguistic definition, urge us first of all to be tolerant toward opposing views and discuss them rather than to call for their utter eradication?
Didn't Hitler and other fascists strike anyone who opposed their ideas and beliefs? How are the neo-liberal Arabs any different from the fascists whom they shower with criticism and curses in their writings…? And after all this, they boast about being liberals. By Allah, with such liberals, who needs Zionists and fascists?" [2]

Dr. Shaker Al-Nabulsi: the 'Neo-Liberals' are a Continuation of an Enlightened Movement from the End of the 19th Century

"The Arab liberal movement, or the enlightened rational movement, was introduced at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries by two generations of progressive thinkers. Among the members of the first generation were Jamal Al-Din Al-Afghani, Muhammad Abdu, Rasheed Ridha, Abd Al-Rahman Al-Kawakibi, Shibli Shameel, Farah Anton, and others. The second generation appeared early in the 20th century and included Taha Hussein, Qassem Amin, Muhammad Hassan Al-Zayyat, Tawfiq Al-Hakim, Muhammad Hussein Haikal, and others. All of them belonged to a political ideological trend that espoused the following principles: Complete freedom of thought, complete freedom of belief, freedom of women and equality between men and women in rights and obligations, political pluralism, religious reform, political and educational reforms, separation of church and state … subjecting sacred values and traditions to scientific scrutiny, and the implementation of democracy.

"The second half of the 20th century witnessed the emergence of a liberal progressive movement led by large groups of intellectual Arab elites… This elite embraced the ideologies of the enlightened Arabs of the 19th and early 20th centuries and added to them the following: war on the ruling military, tribal, and partisan dictatorships that emerged following the [Arab] independence era of the second half of the 20th century and created what we call 'the catastrophes of independence;' a demand for civil societies; reviving the call for religious reforms; and underscoring secularism and the separation of church and state.

"At the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries, and especially following 9/11, which has become an historical defining event for the Arab world no less than it is a defining historical event for the U.S., a new generation of liberals emerged and was named 'neo-libs' by the Arab media. They called for a new era of enlightenment… They adopted the principles of the progressive thinkers of the 19th and the 20th centuries and added new principles that constitute the outline of the neo-liberals' manifesto."

The Neo-Liberal Arab Manifesto
Al-Nabulsi counted twenty-five principles that guide the neo-libs. He raised fundamental demands regarding religion: A persistent demand to reform religious education "in light of the domination of religious terror;" a call for fighting "all types of armed and bloody religious and political Pan-Arab terrorism;" the emphasis on "subjecting the prevailing sacred values, traditions, legislations, and moral values to in-depth scrutiny; considering religious hostility towards others as "a position that emanated from specific political and social circumstances that existed 1500 years ago. These circumstances do not exist any longer and therefore the religious positions that were expressed in the Koran should not be used at all today to attack others and shed their blood;" regarding the laws of the Shari'a as "having been legislated for their specific time and place, and not as laws that cut through history as the clergymen claim;" the understanding that "the religious ideologies, which are the ideas formulated by clergymen and jurisprudents and not the religion that was given by the Prophet himself, are an obstacle to free thinking and its development and a hindrance to the birth of scientific reasoning."

The neo-liberals are not completely committed to the past but re-examine its values "in order to understand the present." They realize that "weakness, ignorance, and scientific and rational paralysis make people seek the past in order to build the present, and this is a very bad choice, since the past applies only to the past, and not to the present…" They also maintain that "history is governed by laws and not by people's passions, delusions, or dwelling on their past. No nation can forge its history at will by going backwards, embracing [past] glories, and restoring bygone culture and civilization." Therefore, the neo-libs call for "liberating the Arab soul from its past and from the dominance of the forefathers."

Al-Nabulsi explained that the neo-liberals are compelled to raise all the questions that have not been asked by their predecessors in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. They endorse self-criticism and the emancipation of the Arab soul from the "delusions, sorcery, amulets, and illusions that envelop it." They understand that "there is no absolute knowledge and that one should [always] be open to the truth," and they seek to create "a new Arab personality that moves away from violence, subservience, irrationality, tribalism, and racism to become rational, realistic, scientific, nationalist, but not racist." Thus, they call upon the Arabs to give up the fantasy ideal that, out of supremacy, they imagine to be representing.

As for the controversial question of whether to seek help from without in order to affect the desired change in the Arab world, the neo-libs adopt a clear position, according top which, "there is no harm in asking for assistance from outside forces to defeat the arrogant tyranny, to completely eradicate the virus of despotism, and implement Arab democracy in light of the inability of the domestic elite and the fragile political parties to defeat this dictatorship and implement such democracy. History has witnessed this before: Europe was helped by the U.S. in defeating Nazism and the Japanese military fascism in WWII, and the U.S. freed Europe just as it freed Kuwait and Iraq; there is nothing with reform coming from without… The most important thing is that it does arrive, be it on the back of an Arabian camel, a British tank, an American warship, or a French submarine…"

On the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the neo-liberals support a peaceful solution through negotiations. According to Al-Nabulsi, "there is no solution to Arab conflicts with others, be it in Palestine or anywhere else, except through dialogue, negotiations, and peaceful solutions in view of the imbalance in military, scientific, economic, and rational capabilities between the Arabs and their enemies." Therefore, the neo-libs believe in "political and cultural normalization with the enemies and acceptance the political reality … without burying [our] heads in the destructive, scorching, Arab desert sand… Normalization and cross-pollination among nations and cultures are the way to a lasting peace in the Middle East. Peace agreements [with Israel]… should turn into agreements among nations, instead of being mere agreements between states without any links to the peoples themselves…"

Economically, explains Al-Nabulsi, the neo-libs support globalization, considering it "one of the ways that lead to Arab economic modernization, which may bring about political and cultural modernization." They also call for embracing "a total Arab modernization, distinguished from Western modernization, on the premise that it will lead to freedom."

As for women's rights, the neo-libs demand total equality between men and women in rights, duties, work, education, inheritance, and giving evidence in courts of law. Al-Nabulsi urges "to adopt the Tunisian legislations of 1957 pertaining to personal status rights, which are considered the best Arab example of the emancipation of Arab women without having to embrace Western values…"

There is No Ideological or Political Link between the Arab Neo-Liberals and the American Neo-Conservatives

After detailing the guiding principles of the neo-liberals, Al-Nabulsi refuted the claim about ties with neo-conservatives in the U.S.: "There is no political or ideological connection between the American neo-cons and the neo-libs in the Arab world, except in three areas: The American challenge to dictatorial regimes; the enhancement of political reforms and free markets in the world; and accepting the notion that the principles of freedom, democracy, and free markets are not the domain of one nation at the exclusion of others.

"Otherwise, the two movements are different. The neo-conservative movement holds the reins of power and is the decision-maker, while the neo-liberal movement is a group of unorganized intellectuals who are not affiliated with any political or cultural organization, they are not inter-connected financially, they have no leader, commander, Sheikh, or prince, and they don't make political decisions.

"Furthermore, the neo-liberals differ from the neo-conservatives in the following: Unlike the neo-conservatives … they embrace modernism and consider it the real key to progress and to eliminating backwardness; they reject the neo-conservatives' propensity to use religion to control the masses; they maintain – contrary to the neo-conservatives – that diplomatic, economic, and political methods are more effective than military force in ending conflicts and tyrannies… Example of that are the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall – the two symbols of dictatorship during the Cold War – without spilling one drop of blood or firing one bullet. Contrary to the neo-conservatives they believe that a continuous war does not lead to stability; they maintain that peace is the desired solution, while the neo-conservatives doubt the peace process; they support the re-building of countries that were destroyed in political battles, while the neo-conservatives oppose that…" [3]

Causing Jihadists

FrontPage magazine.com :: Does Affluence Cause Jihad? by Zachary Constantino

Over and over, intellectuals in America and Europe contort themselves trying to excuse the Jihadists of Islam.

Zachary Constantino delineates the essence of the intellectuals' contortions:

"Militant Islam is an ideology embraced by political and economic elites,
including those who hold American passports. Unfortunately, much of the academy
refuses to acknowledge the fact, championing instead “hopeless poverty” and
“economic deprivation” as “root causes” of violence committed by Islamist
terrorists."

The operative term is the fifth word of the first sentence: "ideology." It is also ideology which drives the mental convulsions of the intelligentsia trying to excuse Jihadists. Of course, each comes from differing ideologies, but they unite in a common hatred of the values of the West.

In this blog and on our website, 6th Column Against Jihad, we stress the role of ideas in our war with Jihadists and in the war with their fifth columnists in the "intellectual world." Jihadists draw their ideas from Islam--not political Islam, not radical Islam, not extreme Islam, nor fundamentalist Islam. To paraphrase the political slogan of 1992, "It is Islam, stupid!" Anyone can buy the materials of Islam and read for himself. All it takes is an open mind.

Too few intellectuals have open minds these days, a problem they share with journalists and others in position of power and influence, particularly in politics. Intellectuals learned their stuff in universities influenced by hungover Hegelian and Marixist influences, stuff those philosophers got from Kant, who got it from Augustine, who got it from Plato. Man, our intellectuals ardently believe, is devoid of free will and is shaped solely by his environment. Nevermind that this has been disproved in action, every minute or every day, by capitalism. The minds of these intellectuals got bent out of shape with this absurd ideology, and they made it part of them. Their minds shut, and they went into a mode of function they would never make the effort to change. That mode they use to force all of data from reality through their Hegelian-Marxist filters. When they do this, they start with the conclusion first, the way they want things to work out. Then they work backwards to the basic data, selecting this and omitting that. When the facts of reality do not support their pre-determined conclusions, well, that's no problem--they just confabulate what they want, in some egregious cases.

These Jihadist terrorists and their supporters in America and internationally come from the educated and moneyed, not the impoverished and abused. The article cited, like many similar articles, spells out the better-off backgrounds of these disaffected persons.

Still, the intelligentsia seem unable to get it. Their ideas did not prepare them to analyze the world. Their ideas prepared them to force the facts into predetermined conclusions according to the prevailing ideologies when they were university students.

It is ideas, ideas, ideas. Or, put another way, it is philosophy. Philosophy in this case means that body of ideas one has assimilated into one's habitual mental functioning and character. We all have philosophies, even if we may be unaware of them.

Why do these Jihadists use the ideas of Islam to set the course of their lives and justify their actions? That requires answering in detail, but, for the moment, it must suffice to say that people choose their ideas. Yes, they may passively accept ideas, but that in itself is an act of choice. The smart thing is to challenge one's passively accepted ideas, keep the good ones, and replace the bad ones with good ones. Few undertake this, although it remains possible for anyone to do, because it is in the nature of the human mind. True, it gets harder to do the older one gets, but it still can be done. In other words, the Jihadists can elect other courses. They do not. For that, they deserve execution, and Islam deserves either total reform or annihilation.

We, human beings, control our lives. If we let ourselves be misshaped by poverty, etc., keeping the misshaping or reshaping ourselves is still the individual responsibility of each of us.

A NEW SIXTH COLUMN? Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism:

Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism:

Yesterday morning, I passed by the television which had been left on Fox News Channel. Linda Vester was interviewing Kamal Nawash, from the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism. Some things Mr. Nawash were saying differed from the usual Muslim persiflage. I backed up the recorder and listened to him from the beginning. Then I went to his site which is linked here. I could hardly believe it. Ostensively, here are Muslims in America who are standing up and being counted, who decry the same evil principles and practices of Jihad which this blog, Sixth Column, and its attendant website, 6th Column Against Jihad, decry and support some of the principles we support.

When you open their website, you confront this:

Report Instances of Extremism or Support for Terrorism

Tell us about individuals, organizations, student associations, religious leaders, mosques or any other group or individual of influence that advocates Muslim extremist ideology, engage in apologetic support for terrorist organizations or advocates “Jihad.”

Submit an anonymous report of Extremism or Support for Terrorism

Below that is a statement of what their organization is about:

Muslims against terrorism and extremism

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism is a nonprofit organization made up of American Muslims and American Arabs of all backgrounds who feel that religious violence and terrorism have not been fully rejected by the Muslim community in the post 9-11 era. The coalition was created to eliminate broad base support for Islamic extremism and terrorism and to strengthen secular democratic institutions in the Middle East and the Muslim World by supporting Islamic reformation efforts.

The Coalition promotes a modern secular interpretation of Islam which is
peace-loving, democracy-loving and compatible with other faiths and beliefs. The
Coalition’s efforts are unique; it is the only mainstream American-Muslim
organization willing to attack extremism and terrorism unambiguously.
Unfortunately most other Muslim leaders and organizations believe that when it
comes to terrorism, the end justifies the means.

Other Americans have spoken up against terrorism, but never before has this message come with such clarity from Muslims or Arabs. Muslims are the only ones who can solve the problem of terror in Islam, and sadly until the founding of this Coalition, they were the only group who had not definitively spoken up against the use of terror.

Please join the Coalition. We welcome all, whether Muslim,
Christian or Jewish.

Then, they cite their credo:

We believe in the re-interpretation of Islam for the 21st century where
terrorism is not justified under any circumstances.

We believe in the separation of religion and state.

We believe that democracy is the best form of government.

We believe in the promotion of secularism in all forms of political activity.

We believe that equality for women is an inalienable right.

We believe that religion is a personal relationship between the individual and his or her God and is not to be forced on anyone.

I have not read all of their site, nor have I followed this organization long enough to become confident that they mean what they say and are not engaged in Islamic deception. However, I am intrigued, and I will follow them. I will hope that this organization is for real and will shine light on the Muslim-induced darkness.

Check them out. If these folks prove real and do not demonstrate serious contradictions of principles, then we can declare them members of the growing sixth column members who value life on earth, freedom, prosperity, happiness, and certainly, religious freedom.

Capitalism Magazine: Socialism is Evil by Walter Williams

Capitalism Magazine: Socialism is Evil by Walter Williams

Dr. Walter E. Williams is one of America's top economists. Too few seem to know of Dr. Williams, and there are two reasons for this. First, he is pro-CAPITALISM. If that weren't enough to keep him out of the media, consider the fact that he is black. In the dominant intellectual culture, including the media, blacks are supposed to be socialists, thus pro-Democrat Party. Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, and growing numbers of highly accomplished, independent minded blacks show that "ain't" so, but the media are not listening. Dr. Williams appears regularly in Captalism Magazine, and he always has something to say, including today.

He opens his article:

What is socialism? We miss the boat if we say it's the agenda of left-wingers and Democrats.

Then, he drops the hammer:

It's not just left-wingers and Democrats who call for and admire socialism but right-wingers and Republicans as well.

Republicans and right-wingers support taking the earnings of one American and giving them to farmers, banks, airlines and other failing businesses. Democrats and left-wingers support taking the earnings of one American and giving them to poor people, cities and artists. Both agree on taking one American's earnings to give to another; they simply differ on the recipients. This kind of congressional activity constitutes at least two-thirds of the federal budget.

All of the terms such as liberal, conservative, left-wing, right-wing, Republican, Democrat have limited usefulness because they are so indistinct. "Socialism" versus "capitalism", now there is a distinction that sweeps everybody into one pile or another. Austrian economist, Ludwig von Mises, brilliantly wrote of this fundamental distinction. Under socialism, he put fascism, communism, and the many flavors of "socialism." His famous book, Socialism, published in the 1920s, had it been read and heeded, might well have spared a world war and heaps of statist inspired agony at home and abroad.

Dr. Williams, in his article, addresses the philosophical issues as well as the economic:

Regardless of the purpose, such behavior is immoral. It's a reduced form of slavery. After all, what is the essence of slavery? It's the forceful use of one person to serve the purposes of another person. When Congress, through the tax code, takes the earnings of one person and turns around to give it to another person in the forms of prescription drugs, Social Security, food stamps, farm subsidies or airline bailouts, it is forcibly using one person to serve the purposes of another.

He takes the argument right to its ethical heart:

Can a moral case be made for taking the rightful property of one American and giving it to another to whom it does not belong? I think not. That's why socialism is evil. It uses evil means (coercion) to achieve what are seen as good ends (helping people). We might also note that an act that is inherently evil does not become moral simply because there's a majority consensus.

Finally, he deals with the moral confusion today over government taking from some to provide for others.

An argument against legalized theft should not be construed as an argument against helping one's fellow man in need. Charity is a noble instinct; theft, legal or illegal, is despicable. Or, put another way: Reaching into one's own pocket to assist his fellow man is noble and worthy of praise. Reaching into another person's pocket to assist one's fellow man is despicable and worthy of condemnation.

This article and its arguments remains eternally fresh as long as we have looters of the right and left buying off voters with your money and mine.

Jihad Watch: Kerry and the Middle East

Jihad Watch: Kerry and the Middle East

It did not take us long as children to learn about human deceptiveness. Soon enough, we had to judge people by what they did, with less and less credence given to what they said.

Democrats officially nominated a presidential candidate who resembles the cardinal property of a liquid: He takes the shape of the container. This shape-shifter Kerry has no endo-skeleton and has the collective subjectivist mentality of all liberals who believe that their beliefs and intentions count as actions. His speech took up about one hour of expensive television time, and its reliance on cue-words instead of substance fooled only those who desperately "want to believe." Kerry will "fight" with cue words, slogans, empty promises, and resolutions from the UN, and kowtow to France and Germany. He will not stand up to Jihadists--unless they attack us directly, he says. One must wonder how much of an attack is enough for him.

Pres. Bush gives me endless heartburns, including insufficient understanding of the Islamic enemy and insufficient resolve to declare war formally, then annihiliate them, starting immediately with Iran. His thoughts are confused about whom we are fighting; thus, his actions are contradictory. Nevertheless, he moves overall in the right direction.

The Democrats' "girlie men" candidates can have only the fullest support from al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Syria, and. of course, the U.N. There is a philosophical sympatico amongst them, which means, expect no real opposition to enemies of America coming from Democrats . Whether anyone is a Republican, Democrat, independent, or from whatever party affiliation including no party affiliation, he should be scared to death by this Democrat duo, assuming he supports the Declaration of Independence principles and our Constitution, and should run pell-mell to register to vote, if needed, and then to vote this November for his life.

The article cited comes from today's Jihad Watch and originates in the Arab News (link in the Jihad Watch article). For any who might not be familiar with Jihad Watch, it is the gold standard presentation of current events and news about Islam-inspired or influenced doings about the world. This site publishes daily and is one of the most relevant news and commentary websites in existence.
