Christianity Takes Another Hit, This Time in Indiana
Judge Bars Indiana Legislature from Christian Prayers
The Indiana Civil Liberties Union successfully has caused the cessation of invocations "using the name of Jesus Christ or Christian terms such as savior."
According the ICLU:
"Dozens of religious leaders signed a statement saying House prayers should honor religious diversity."
This is yet another attempt to deny the fact that the great majority, 83%, of Americans call themselves Christians and that America's cultural building blocks are Judeo-Christian.

a federal judge on Wednesday (December 30, 2005) barred the Indiana House from opening its sessions with specifically Christian prayers, ruling that such prayers amount to "an official endorsement of the Christian religion...
Of 53 opening prayers given in the House during the 2005 session, 41 were given by clergy identified with Christian churches and at least 29 mentioned Jesus Christ, according to court documents.

I have a question regarding this site. While it has much to offer, is it going to be an Objectivist site or a Christian / Conservative one? All of Eleanor's posts are loaded with the typical Conservative errors; like her tirades against immigration which is not an Objectivist position who are for open immigration given the right context, or this:
"This is yet another attempt to deny the fact that the great majority, 83%, of Americans call themselves Christians and that America's cultural building blocks are Judeo-Christian"
which no Objectivist in their right mind would ever say. Objectivists know that the greatness of America is its Greco-Roman legacy *not* its Judeo-Christian legacy which has been its bane.
So my suggestion to whoever runs this site is to make a decision if you want to be a voice for Conservatism or for Objectivism. Objectivists should know that Conservatives are not our allies in this philosophic war. They can be just as dangerous as the liberals. In fact more so because they sound Pro-American in their rhetoric, but their underlying philosophy is just as altruistic as the Left's.
I like this site and it is a good place for information that the MSM never reports on (similar to Little Green Footballs) but it is too loaded with Consevative nonsense (such as essentially everything Eleanor posts) to be of any lasting value to an Objectivist.

Oh my, oh my, what an "objectivist" statement.
Can you find any "objective facts" in your comment?
I find only "opinions".
And opinions are not "objective".

Anonymous,
Thank you very much for your question; it gives us an opportunity to discuss issues which probably wouldn’t have much meaning for people not well versed in Objectivism.
We became acquainted with Objectivism in 1964, while still young medical students, and have remained dedicated to that philosophy ever since. We truly mean what we say in the blog's masthead.
As you might imagine, an explanation of why we have invited some non-Objectivists as regular contributors would be too lengthy to put here in the Comments section.
In an attempt to do our reasoning justice, we have decided to answer it as a blog in its own right; maybe some of our conservative and Christian readers might be interested in knowing too.
Again, thank you very much—see you soon at the blog!
