Are We 'Mired in a Religious War'?
Are we “mired in a religious war?” Did we ask for this war and deserve what we get? Some people really believe that the United States illegally went to war and deserves to be trounced by the Islamists.
According to The Method of Mohmmad, the jihadis were out to get us and have us in their sights because the United States is now considered to be “The Great Unbelief,” the enemy of Islam, and would have been whether or not we ever set foot on the Arabian Peninsula or decided to pre-empt Saddam Hussein. The Koran gives them the impetus and the Sira, the chronological description of the life of Mohammad tells them how to do it.
Why are the Iraqis and their co-religionists so against the presence of Americans that are attempting to purge their country of ba’athists, criminals, and troublesome jihadis that have come only for war? According to Sam Harris at the Washington Times:
Every thinking person that has studied or become aware of the smallest amount of information about Islam and jihad has learned or been informed that the jihad is not a political movement, it is a religious obligation that is taken up “for the purpose building up the wealth and power of the Islamic community and bring the world under a single Islamic state.” This is stated clearly in various Islamic texts and is proclaimed loudly by scholars, sheikhs, and imams somewhere in the Muslim world at any given moment.
The Iraqi insurgency wishes to destroy the American Army and to create an Islamic state in the ashes of Saddam’s agnostic secular state, to appropriate the oil wealth and human capital of the Iraqi people, not to allow them self-determination and freedom of thought and action, but for the furtherance of the goals of Islam.
The “Near Enemy,” Saddam Hussein has been destroyed thanks to the American Army, and now America itself, the “Great Disbelief,” is the next and ultimate target. Even if we pull out today, the jihad against America will continue, for the goal is the destruction of the West and the creation of a one-world Islamic state using any means necessary to arrive to that end.
Our problem now is to determine how to stop a nihilistic enemy, armed with nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, that is determined to destroy us, or perhaps go with us into the next world, as the attainment of “Paradise” and the kingdom of Allah on earth matters not whether anyone, Muslim or Infidel, survives.

…Iraqi insurgents know that we did not come to their country to rape their women or to kill innocent civilians. Every thinking person in the Muslim world understands that if our goal had been to kill Iraqis and steal their oil, millions of Iraqis would now be dead and their oil would be flowing. The terrible truth about our predicament in Iraq is that even if we had invaded with no other purpose than to remove Saddam Hussein from power and make Iraq a paradise on Earth, we should still expect tomorrow's paper to reveal that another jihadi has blown himself to bits for the sake of killing scores of innocent men, women and children.
