Hamilton College Alumni, Listen Up. You Have a Convicted Terrorist the Faculty of Your Alma Mater

Nothing surprises me anymore. However, I am flabbergasted and a bit perturbed to learn that a college, even one in liberal New York State, would hire a member of the "Family," a Weather Undergound Associate that spent years in prison in connection with the 1991 Brinks Truck Robbery that killed three people in Nyak, New York.

Everyone deserves a second chance, but has Susan Rosenberg changed enough to make her an appropriate person to mold young minds? In an era where university professors are coming under fire for being Muslim apologists, propagandists, or even terrorists, it strikes me as odd that a college would this choice. Read the article and make up your own mind.

Update:Susan Rosenberg has withdrawn from teaching at Hamilton College.

"In response to her hiring, prospective students withdrew applications and donors rescinded hundreds of thousands of dollars in pledges, school officials said." Hired through an on-campus organization that focuses on social justice issues, she was to have taught a one-month in January called "Resistance Memoirs" Writing, Identity, and Change."

Rosenberg drew controversy was the fact that "one would know none of the darker details of her past" that was "sanitized by the Kirkland Project, named for a 1968-78 college for women coordinate with Hamilton College, is an on-campus organization committed to social justice, focusing on issues of race, class, gender, sexulaity, disability, as well as other facets of human diversity."
