The Dismemberment of the United States As a Sovereign Nation State
Folks,
The United Nations is promoting a little-publicized campaign to institute the use of internationally endorsed legal mechanisms to force developed nations to accept, without their permission, the free transfer of underdeveloped nations' poor underclasses, for whom the taxpayers of the developed nations will then be responsible. Please read The UN's "Borderless" World by Joseph Klein in FrontPageMagazine.com on April 24, and then read this article, reprinted below, by Cliff Kincaid:

Kosovo in America

The outcome of this controversy is the survival of America as we know it.
Many Americans scoff at the idea that Mexican-rights activists might someday reclaim most of the Southwest United States as Mexican territory. "It can't happen here," they say. But it is happening in Serbia, where the United Nations (with the assistance of the U.S.) is working to grant autonomy or even independence to Kosovo, a province of Serbia, on the grounds that it has an Albanian majority.
As a U.N. press release put it, "Independence and autonomy are among options that have been mentioned for the province, where Albanians outnumber Serbs and others by 9 to 1." Our media also highlight this fact.
But as William Dorich notes, in our AIM Report, "The media tell us that Albanians are a majority of Kosovo but never publish the fact that 40 percent are illegal aliens who cross the border into Serbia as easily as Mexicans cross our borders each night in San Diego." Dorich notes that Serbs have been made nearly extinct in Kosovo but were a majority of the population in 1939.
The question then becomes: what kind of precedent will Kosovo set for the rest of the world, including the U.S.? The process entails the dismemberment of a sovereign nation state.
Could it happen here?
It's not as far-fetched as you might think. If the United Nations continues its support for "indigenous peoples," as the Mexicans in the Southwest U.S. define themselves, the U.S. could become the next Serbia, and the Southwest could become the next Kosovo.
The outcome of this controversy is the survival of America as we know it.

I think our whole involvement in Bosnia, Kosovo, etc. probably set a bad precedent. In light of recent history I'm not sure we were on the right side, if there was one. Worst of all, our govertnment seems hellbent on setting bad precedents like the one you mentioned. It will be difficult to stand up on our moral soapbox to protest Mexican irredentism when we helped rip a chunk of territory away from a sovereign nation on such a flimsy rationale. Bah.

Dostrick,
The more I find out, the more I think we've been setting a lot of bad precedents.
Up to recent times, I was like a lot of other people; I didn't feel these events "on my skin," so to speak, but now, with the dissolution of the borders, the political takeover of so much of our territory (bought and paid for, I might add - I GOTTA find that damned receipt!), the open ambition by leaders of the "seperatist" movement such as Voz de Aztlan to establish a new nation they call (not surprisingly) "Aztlan" that includes territory in the whole southwestern corner of our country, up to and including (in their most ambitious plans) the southern part of Washington state, the increasing chumminess between Iran and Castro, Chavez, and Morales, the alliances being formed between Hezbollah and the drug lords and gangs in the Tri-Border region of South America (Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay), the increasing enlistment of gang members in the Army etc. (where they get professional military training), the experience the gang enlistees get in Iraq (urban warfare), the lockdowns being conducted with increasing frequency at our military bases to try to find "lost" equipment (night-vision goggles were the last reason for a lockdown at Fort Lewis, in Washington state) - well, I have begun some serious "dot-connecting," and none of it makes me happy, especially since Bush seems either to be in La-la land re: Islam AND borders, or he doesn't care, or he is complicit.
Can't think of any other reason for his inactivity.
It is my most fervent wish that there are enough people left who "see the light" on this issue that we can salvage the very existence of our nation.
I have been on a tear for several years about how our government-run school system does not exist to educate students to become knowledgeable thinkers, but rather, to produce a population that is woefully ignorant and made submissive and compliant, and not oppose the implementation of policy, even if it means that our leaders refuse to uphold their oaths of office, the Constitution is relegated to the status of of "ornament," and our nation-state is reduced to the position of an "administrative unit" in a larger world-wide entity.
We MUST field a bunch of candidates for office who "get it," or we are lost.
That little line from a song in "Camelot" comes to mind, where King Arthur refers to Camelot as a "brief, shining moment" in history...

Most Americans don't see the big picture --- it could go either way: a blakanization into smaller, ethnic-driven enclaves, the Kosovo-like effect, or the large conglomorate under one flag, "The United States of North America." However, signs point to changes that have been allowed to happen regardless of the "will of the people."

In today's 'democracy' it appears that the "will of the people" is of little consequence. It's what the big boys want. In fact, it could be said that democracy has become the big boys' toy!

The will of the people is worth nothing without proper action. Nation of sheep really applies.
